Mini FAQ : Things to know when booking SOCAR.

Welcome to SOCAR!

We know it can be overwhelming when it’s your first time, so here I’ll be answering a few of the most asked questions, to ensure that you are equipped and ready to drive a SOCAR!

What’s the difference between Roundtrip and SOCAR-2-YOU?

SOCAR offers different services, so how do you differentiate? Let’s break it down.

Roundtrip: You will need to return the car back to the zone where it was picked up.

SOCAR-2-YOU: The car will be delivered and picked up from you, as long as it is within the coverage area. Delivery and Pick Up options are selected when making a booking, with an additional charge. .

Can I book the car in advance?

Since SOCAR is based on availability, yes, you can! As long as the car is available, you can book the car days, weeks or even months in advance.

Can I return the car earlier? Will I be refunded?

You can return the car earlier than the booking end time, however, you will not be refunded for the excess time. So remember to plan your journey and booking time accordingly!

You can claim for a refund if you sent the car for a wash, and if you refueled the car.

What is a Mileage Package? Why is it important?

Mileage package is a prepaid option which allows you to purchase mileage for your travels, and must be purchased at the start of your booking. SOCAR bookings do not come with any free mileage, if no mileage is purchased at the start of the booking, you will be charged for the extra mileage at RM0.25/km.

There are a few mileage packages that you can choose from depending on your travels, the more you buy, the cheaper it gets.

How to Set Your Mileage Package?

The price of a SOCAR varies depending on the car model, the time of the day, day of the week, promotion and zone location. The best way to know is for you to download the app, and book a car based on your preference and budget!

What are the payment methods that I can use?

SOCAR has several payment methods that enables you to make payments:

  1. Wallet
  2. GrabPay
  3. Debit/Credit Card

Can I make an advance booking?

Yes, you are allowed to make advance bookings.

  1. Simply select the ‘Book A Car Now’ option on the main page.
  2. Select your location and/or date and time.
  3. Choose from the list of cars available, and click on ‘Proceed’.
  4. On the Add-Ons page, select the following.
    1. SCDW
    2. Mileage Package (for better value)
  5. Additional Services:
    1. Car Delivery (for the car to be delivered to you)
    2. Car Pick Up (for the car to be picked up from you)
    3. Personal Driver (for a personal driver to drive you around)
  6. Click on ‘Proceed’.
  7. Double check your booking details on the booking confirmation page.
  8. Click on ‘Book Now’.

Can I make a booking via the SOCAR website?

No. Bookings can only be made via the SOCAR app.

How do I know if my area is within the delivery zone?

The Car Delivery option will be available for you to select.  If the car is not available for Delivery, it will be greyed out and you will not be able to select the service for your booking

Why can’t I make a booking?

There could be several reasons why you are unable to book a car:

  1. You have submitted your documents and pending validation.
  2. You have a pending payment from one of your previous bookings.
  3. The car is not available during the selected date and time

Will there be a delivery charge if I select car delivery or car pick up?

Yes, the delivery charges will be based on your location.

Why can’t I add the additional services for booking?

If you are not able to select the additional services, it may be due to the following reasons.

  1. The booking is immediate (3 hours booking in advance is required for Car Delivery and SOCAR+ Personal Driver services).
  2. The car is out of the delivery and/or pickup zone.

Why do I need to purchase the mileage package?

Since SOCAR bookings do not come with free mileage, it would be best if mileage packages are purchased.

It is cheaper if you have selected the mileage package when making a booking.

There are 3 packages for you to choose from, 10KM, 50KM and 100KM. The higher the mileage, the cheaper the price per kilometre. If you did not purchase the mileage package when making a booking, you will be charged at RM0.25/km.

Note: Mileage Package can only be purchased when you are during the initial booking, before your journey begins.
