7 Best Affordable Rooftop Restaurants and Bars in KL for Father’s Day

Affordable rooftop restaurants in KL are what we’re all searching for in the middle of the month when our wallets are thin and Father’s Day is coming around.

Because let’s be honest. We all want to treat Dad to something nice. Somewhere with a good view, nice food, maybe a little breeze after a long hot day in KL.

But once you start checking rooftop menus online, the prices can feel a bit painful, especially when we’re feeling broke as hell.

That’s why we put together this list for you.

We think these affordable rooftop places in KL genuinely are worth visiting if you want a Father’s Day dinner (or drink) with a skyline view without spending half your salary.

Some of the places on this list are proper restaurants, some lean more towards bars with food, and some are casual hidden gems that surprised us in the best way.

You’ll find cosy rooftop cafés, cocktail spots with city lights, and laid-back restaurants where you can actually relax and enjoy the evening instead of stressing over the bill.

The bars are great if you enjoy sharing a drink with dad. Or they’re also great if moms want to bring their husband out to celebrate Father’s Day after the kids are asleep.

If you’ve been searching for an affordable rooftop restaurant in KL you would actually return to, this list should help.

1. The Attic Bar

Tucked above the old shophouses of Chinatown, The Attic Bar feels like one of those places you accidentally discover and then immediately tell your friends about.

We loved the relaxed atmosphere of the place. It’s not flashy or intimidating like some rooftop bars in the city. You have to go through a secret entrance to enter, which just adds to the fun.

You walk through a narrow staircase and suddenly end up in this cool rooftop space that feels far away from the traffic downstairs.

Inside is a cosy hidden rooftop with warm lights, vintage décor, and a surprisingly nice view of the KL skyline at  sunset. We loved watching the Merdeka 118 come to life at dusk.

The cocktails here are what most people come for, especially the fruity gin-based cocktails and whiskey mixes. We loved the house rice wine and the Tuak.

If your dad enjoys quieter places where you can actually have a conversation, however, this may not be the best fit. Because it can get crowded, especially on weekends. However, if you come early, it can be quite chill.

The food menu ranges from bar bites and sharing plates to full meals. Prices are actually reasonable for a rooftop place in KL, which is rare these days.

We love The Attic and it would be great for a Father’s Day evening, especially if you love to eat, drink, and enjoy the city lights together with the old man.

Location: 3rd Floor, 15 Jalan Balai Polis, Kuala Lumpur

Scarlet's, an affordable rooftop restaurant in KL

2. Scarlet’s Rooftop

Scarlet’s Rooftop is one of those places that instantly feels intimate and lively at the same time. The rooftop setup is beautiful at night, especially once the city starts glowing around you.

We really liked how approachable the prices were considering the location and view. A lot of rooftop places in KL charge premium prices just because they’re high up. Scarlet’s actually feels fair.

The vibe here is trendy without trying too hard. You’ll see groups celebrating birthdays, couples taking photos, and families enjoying dinner together. For Father’s Day, it works nicely because it feels special but still comfortable.

The grilled meats and pasta dishes are very popular. Their Buttermilk pasta and Sizzling Lamb Cutlets were definitely our favourites. The lamb was so tender!

Their sharing platters are also pretty great, especially if you’re coming with siblings and want to order a few things for the table.

While they don’t serve alcohol, their coffees and mocktails are a delight. They’re colourful, refreshing, and honestly much better priced than some luxury rooftops nearby.

If your dad enjoys a cold coffee with a skyline view, this place delivers that experience without the luxury hotel bill.

The city view here deserves a mention too. You get a nice angle of KL’s skyline while still feeling close to the energy of the city below. And the staff are super welcoming.

Among all the Kuala Lumpur rooftop restaurants we’ve tried recently, this one is really dear to our hearts. It’s a homely vibe with a beautiful rooftop view.

Pro tip: Make reservations ahead of time to get outdoor seating.

Location: Level R, Pusat Perdagangan, 60, Lorong Haji Hussein 1, Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur

3. Rooftop 25 Hilltop Garden Inn

Rooftop 25 Hilltop Garden Inn surprised us quite a bit.

From the name alone, we expected something simple. But once we got upstairs, the atmosphere felt much nicer than anticipated. There’s greenery everywhere, soft lighting, and a comfortable open-air setup that works really well at night.

This place leans more casual compared to some rooftop restaurants in KL, which honestly makes it easier for Father’s Day dinners. You don’t feel pressured to dress up too much or order expensive dishes.

The prices are very reasonable. That’s probably one of the biggest reasons locals keep coming back. You can have a proper dinner here without getting shocked by the final bill.

They offer packages for couples, groups of 3 or 5 of varying prices. So you can order whatever works best for you. You can upgrade the package to include mocktails or cocktails.

You can also add decorations to the table for an additional charge to make your Father’s Day dinner extra special.

Their lamp chops were a hit for us. Portions are generous too, which dads usually appreciate more than tiny fancy plates.

The rooftop itself has a calm neighbourhood feel. Instead of a super glamorous skyline, you get a more relaxed city atmosphere with cool evening air and plenty of seating space.

We also liked that the service felt friendly and genuine. Staff actually take time to explain dishes and recommendations instead of rushing everyone through dinner.

If you’re specifically looking for an affordable rooftop restaurant in KL families can enjoy comfortably, this one deserves a spot on your shortlist.

Location: Hilton Garden Inn, Chow Kit, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur

D'Roof Cafe, another affordable rooftop restaurant in KL

4. D’Roof Cafe @ Rooftop D’Majestic Place

The biggest attraction at D’Roof Cafe is definitely the view. You get a really nice perspective of the city skyline, especially during sunset when the sky starts turning orange and pink behind the buildings.

We loved how casual the whole experience felt. People come for dinner, coffee, drinks, desserts, and late-night chats while enjoying the rooftop scenery.

They serve mostly Western and Continental food, which is quite decent. Our favourites were the Buttermilk chicken rice, Korean chicken, and Bolognese pasta. They also have a diverse menu for drinks and beverages.

What makes this place special is how accessible it feels. You don’t need a huge budget to enjoy yourself here. Even students and younger crowds come regularly because the pricing stays manageable.

For Father’s Day, this is a good option if your dad prefers somewhere easygoing instead of an upscale fine dining environment.

Among the best rooftop restaurants in KL for casual dinners, this one feels very underrated.

Location: W.P, Level 20, D’Majestic Place, 376, Jln Pudu, Kuala Lumpur

5. Kindan KL

Kindan KL brings a completely different vibe compared to the other rooftops on this list.

This place combines Japanese-inspired dining with a stylish rooftop setting, and somehow it still manages to stay fairly affordable compared to many modern rooftop concepts in KL.

The rooftop space feels sleek but welcoming. We especially liked the lighting here. Once evening comes, the place gets this soft warm glow that makes the whole dinner feel extra cosy.

.Their yakitori, sushi rolls, and grilled dishes are usually the stars of the table. Portions are decent too, especially if you’re sharing multiple dishes with family.

Their drinks menu is also fun without becoming ridiculously overpriced. You’ll find Japanese-inspired cocktails, highballs, and refreshing mocktails that pair nicely with the food.

The skyline views here are great. You’re surrounded by city buildings, glowing lights, and a very KL-style urban atmosphere that feels exciting without becoming chaotic.

If your dad enjoys Japanese food and stylish places with good energy, this rooftop is honestly a strong choice.

Location: ,42-1 & 42-2, Mercu Aspire, KL Eco City, Kuala Lumpur

6. Hallaway KL Rooftop Bar

Hallaway KL Rooftop Bar has a younger, livelier atmosphere, but it still works surprisingly well for Father’s Day dinners if your family enjoys a more energetic setting.

This place is known more for drinks and vibes, but the food menu is solid enough for dinner.

They have a great selection of food including rice bowls, ramen, delicious fried chicken, and snacks. Hallaway also has quite an extensive menu for drinks and mocktails.

The cocktails here are fun and affordable by rooftop standards. Happy hour deals also help keep the overall spending reasonable.

The rooftop itself feels spacious and open. We really liked the city breeze up here, especially after a long hot afternoon in KL.

We really loved the live music. It creates a fun atmosphere without becoming nightclub-level loud too early in the evening. That balance matters a lot if you’re bringing parents.

The skyline view here feels very urban and modern. You get glowing towers, busy roads, and all the city energy that makes rooftop dining in KL feel exciting.

If you’re hunting for an affordable rooftop restaurant in KL visitors and locals both enjoy for casual celebrations, Hallaway definitely deserves attention.

Location: Wisma Trax, Level 13, No.1, Jalan Lima, Chan Sow Lin, Kuala Lumpur

7. Sky Lounge by UCSI Hotels

Sky Lounge by UCSI Hotels feels a little more polished compared to some of the casual rooftops on this list, but the prices remain surprisingly approachable.

The rooftop setup is beautiful at sunset. The skyline slowly lights up around you while the lounge atmosphere becomes softer and more relaxing.

We liked how spacious the seating arrangement felt. You don’t feel cramped or squeezed between tables, which makes the dinner experience much more comfortable for families.

The food menu covers both local and western options. We loved the mushroom soup, pizza, and chicken. Portions are generous enough for sharing too.

The drinks menu includes coffees, mocktails, cocktails, and wine selections, so everyone at the table usually finds something they enjoy.

Service here also deserves credit. Staff are attentive without hovering around constantly, which makes the whole experience smoother.

This place honestly feels like one of the best rooftop restaurants in Kuala Lumpur for people who want something classy without luxury pricing.

Location: Block G, level 12e. 1, Jalan Menara Gading, UCSI Heights Taman Connaught Cheras, Kuala Lumpur

Final Thoughts

Father’s Day only comes around once a year, so it’s nice to make the evening feel a little extra special for our dads.

We truly believe you don’t need to spend a fortune to do that, especially because there are some great options for affordable rooftop dining in KL now.

There are plenty of places with beautiful views, good food, relaxing vibes, and drinks that won’t completely destroy your wallet.

Some rooftops on this list are cosy and quiet. Others are lively and energetic. Some focus more on food while others lean towards cocktails and sharing plates. But all of them give you that special rooftop experience without making you regret checking your bank app afterwards.

And honestly, sometimes all Dad really wants is your company and, hopefully, a cool place where everyone can slow down and enjoy the night together.
